چکیده

In the present study, flame propagation statistics from turbulent statistically planar premixed flames obtained simple and detailed chemistry, three-dimensional Direct Numerical Simulations, were evaluated compared to each other. To this end, a new database was established encompassing five different conditions on combustion regime diagram, using nearly identical numerical methods same initial boundary conditions. A discussion of advantages limitations both approaches is provided, including difference in carbon footprint for establishing database. It shown that displacement speed their interrelation with curvature tangential strain rate are very good qualitative reasonably quantitative agreement between chemistry Simulations. Hence, it concluded simulations should retain importance future research, environmental impact high-performance computing be carefully chosen relation goals achieved.

Direct Numerical Simulation of Nonpremixed Flame Extinction by Water Spray

The interaction of turbulent nonpremixed flames with fine water spray is studied using direct numerical simulations (DNS) with detailed chemistry. The study is of practical importance in fire safety devices that operate in the mist regime, as well as an inexpensive temperature control mechanism for gas turbines. The implemented computational methods for the Lagrangian particle-in-cell spray dro...

Direct Numerical Simulation of a Turbulent Lifted Flame: Stabilisation Mechanism

A turbulent lifted slot-jet flame is studied using direct numerical simulation (DNS). A single step chemistry model is employed with a mixture-fraction dependent activation energy to quantitatively reproduce the dependence of laminar burning rate on equivalence ratio that is typical of hydrocarbon fuels. It is observed that the leading flame edge exhibits a single branch close to the stoichiome...

Investigation of Air Turbulence Intensity Effect on the Flame Structure in Different Flame Holder Geometry

In this paper, the effect of air turbulence intensity on the flame structure in various radii and lengths of a flame holder numerically studied. Finite volume method is used to solve the governing equations. The obtained numerical results using realizable k-ε and β-PDF models show a good agreement with the experimental data. The results show that flame holder with greater lengths yield shorter ...
